MASKS REQUIRED FOR ALL PERFORMANCES
The safety of our artists, audiences and staff is our top priority. Following recommendations from the CDC and local officials, masks will be required for all 21/22 Season performances. All audience members are asked to self-screen prior to arriving to the theater. Patrons can expect a low touch environment, including e-tickets, digital programs & credit/debit card only transactions. All Health & Safety protocols and requirements are subject to change and at the discretion of the artist, presenter, or venue. Please see more detailed information below.
ARTISTS REQUIRING PROOF OF NEGAGIVE TEST OR VACCINATION
For the Neil Gaiman performance on May 22, 2022, the artist is requiring that all attendees 12 and older provide:
1) A negative PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to of the performance OR
2) Proof of vaccination
All attendees must also show a government-issued ID that matches the name on the negative test proof or vaccination record. And all are required to wear masks inside the venue when not actively eating or drinking.
These forms of vaccination proof are acceptable:
1) A CDC designated vaccine card that has two vaccine dates for the Pfizer/Moderna vaccine or one vaccine date for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine (the date of the final dose must be at least 14 days prior to the performance)
2) A photo or digital copy of the card
Anyone who can’t or doesn’t wish to show proof of negative PCR test or get vaccinated can not attend. Current ticket holders who can’t or do not wish to comply with this policy may request a refund by contacting the Box Office, no later than 5 PM, on Friday, December 10, 2021.
We ask that you do self-screening at home, prior to arriving for any performances. For the safety of others, please stay home if you’re not feeling 100%.
LOW-TOUCH AUDIENCE EXPERIENCE
Payments at the Box Office, concessions & bars, and Theater District Parking garage will be credit or debit card only. Performance programs and tickets will be distributed digitally.
FOOD & DRINK
Encore Café at Jones Hall will be open. Eating and drinking will be allowed in designated lobby areas only. Food and drink will not be permitted inside the auditorium.
All Houston Artist Commissioning Project Live performances in Jones Hall will be General Admission, with social distanced seating.
All other performances are planned to be at capacity, without social distancing.
Once seated in the auditorium, please remain seated throughout the duration of the performance, if possible. We ask that you follow any guidance from the ushers.
SPA & EVENT STAFF
All Society for the Performing Arts staff are fully vaccinated. All performance staff will wear masks at all times
New Orchestra Level aisles at Jones Hall will allow for greater ease of access to those areas. All high-touch areas are under increased cleaning procedures and hand sanitization stations are available throughout the venue. The venue HVAC system features MERV 13 filters for superior air quality.
We’ll continue to follow guidance from the CDC and local officials. All changes will be updated on this page and shared with current ticket holders via email. Please note that all Health & Safety requirements are subject to change and at the discretion of the artists, presenter or venue.
Firearms and weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited at Society for the Performing Arts performances.

What if I had tickets to these performances?
For rescheduled performances, unless you’ve told us otherwise, tickets have automatically transferred to the new date. No action is required and your new tickets will arrive later this summer.
If you can’t make the new date, please contact the box office at 713-227-4772 or email@example.com. Ticket options include: exchanging the value of your tickets into another performance, exchanging your tickets into credit, donating the value of your tickets or requesting a refund. Please note that refunds can be requested only until 30 days prior to the new performance date. After that date, however, you can still exchange the value of your tickets into tickets for another performance or credit.
19/20 Season Credit Holders
Due to the pandemic, we extended the deadline to use 19/20 Season credits by one year. Rather than expiring on June 30, 2020, those credits now expire on June 30, 2021.
Prior to June 30, 2021, 19/20 Season credits can be used to purchase tickets to any 21/22 Season performances. After June 30, unused credit amounts will be considered donations.
How to Redeem
Credits can be redeemed online. If you have credit on your account, you will see that amount in checkout (before entering your credit card information). Please reach out if you have any questions.
Going forward, any new credits will expire at the end of the fiscal year for that season. Credits created in the 21/22 Season will expire on June 30, 2022. After the expiration date, unused credits will be considered donations.
Once the 21/22 Season goes on sale this spring, purchase 3 or more shows in the 21/22 season to become an SPA Subscriber. You’ll enjoy the benefits listed below and join a club of Houston’s most adventurous (and coolest) arts lovers.

Every ticket you purchase supports programs like the Houston Artist Commissioning Project and Collaborative Arts Project in-school residency.
Unless otherwise specified, children aged 4 may attend SPA performances. Please note that not all performances may be appropriate for younger children.
Tickets must be purchased for all children, regardless of age. This is required by the City of Houston Fire Code.
Late seating policy is at the discretion of the artist and may not be available. Please arrive early.

The venue lobby will open 60 minutes prior to the performance start time. And seating inside the theater will open 30 minutes prior to start time.
Photography and recording of any kind are strictly prohibited.

Parking is available in the Theater District Parking Garage for $12. Street parking in Downtown Houston is free after 6pm, Monday-Saturday, and free all day on Sundays. Street parking is not guaranteed. Parking rates are not controlled by SPA and are subject to change.

All tickets are non-refundable. However, we offer the following ticket donation and exchange options.
- If you’re unable to attend a performance, you have until 24 hours prior to the start of the performance to donate your tickets for a tax donation.
- Subscribers can exchange tickets within the same season without paying additional processing and handling fees.
- Single-ticket buyers can exchange tickets within the same season, processing and handling fees do apply.
- Group tickets cannot be cancelled or exchanged.
