This
exciting visual art contest offers
all K-12 students in the greater Houston
area the chance to showcase their
talents and win a multitude of prizes.
This year, the contest is held in
conjunction with Broadway Across America’s
presentation of Cirque
Dreams: Illumination.
All submitted artwork will be judged
on creativity, skill and interpretation
of the theme: "Beyond
your own Cityscape: Illuminate your
Dreams"
Rules
Works on paper, including photography,
are permitted, with a maximum size
of 16”x20”.
Only one entry per student and one
artist per entry is allowed. Students
may submit artwork themselves or teachers
can submit the students’ artwork
on their behalf. Please include the
following information on the back
of each artwork: title, student’s
name, grade, address, telephone number,
and e-mail as well as the school name
and address, teacher’s name,
telephone number and e-mail.

Best of Show graduating high school senior will be awarded a $1000 scholarship. A Special Merit graduating high school senior will be awarded a $400 scholarship. Senior first, second and third place winners will be awarded scholarships ranging from $500 to $750.
The graduating senior first place winner will be awarded a $750 scholarship in loving memory of Viola Davis Rosson, late mother of Mary Rosson Espinosa and mother-in-law of Miguel Espinosa. The senior third place will be awarded a $500 scholarship in loving memory of K.E. “Jake” Jacob, late father of Dinah Sultanik and father-in-law of H. Michael Sultanik.
First, second and third place winners in grades K-11 receive savings bonds ranging from $50 to $500. All first, second and third place winners will receive a museum membership. First place winners for grades K-11 will receive a scholarship to the Glassell Junior School, MFAH.
All winners of the various categories and 15 honorable mentions will receive a gift of art supplies and tickets to Cirque Dreams: Illumination provided by Society for the Performing Arts. Four works will be chosen as the four covers of SPA’s 2010-2011 season program magazines.
