Dolce Strings Touring Ensemble is made up of advanced Suzuki violin, viola and cello students ages 9 to 18, led by our esteemed faculty, Meredith Harris, Elisabeth Hope and Danette Schuh. These extremely talented, motivated students participate in numerous full-day intensive workshops during the year to prepare for each exciting concert season. Repertoire includes selections from the great composers of the Classical and Baroque eras as well as Texas-style fiddling and popular toe-tapping tunes. These busy students all live in the greater Houston area and many of them perform with their school orchestras, youth symphonies and other groups. They come together here to share their love of learning and making music both at home and on the road. Our 2016-17 season, “Destination Disney”, includes local Houston area concerts, a featured performance at the Bob Wills Fiddle Festival in Greenville, TX, a Texas tour through Austin, College Station and San Antonio, and performances onstage at Disney World.

The Central Dance Ensemble is Houston Community College-Central campus premiere contemporary dance ensemble. The CDE under the direction of Maggie Lasher has been a staple of the HCC dance program since 2010 and regularly performs throughout the school year. The ensemble has a fall concert featuring work by student choreographers, and a spring repertory concert showcasing work from faculty, guest artists, and selected students. HCC students audition for the ensemble in both the fall and the spring, and the ensemble provides a wonderful opportunity for the most gifted dance students to showcase their talents and experience being in a professionally run dance ensemble. Many Central Dance Ensemble members end up dancing with professional dance companies in Houston and frequently transfer to four-year university dance programs. In addition to their regular concert season the CDE has had the privilege of performing in the SPA Performance Prelude series, the Houston Fringe Festival, the Dance Gallery Festival, and numerous American College Dance Association conferences, as well as multiple times a year for a variety of Houston Community College events.

As fifth graders, KIPPsters at Sharpstown College Prep are able to explore the various art programs that the school offers. Students can choose from Visual Arts, Orchestra, Theater, Choir, and Dance. All 5th graders participate in a selection process where they determine the art that they will study in greater depth for the remainder of their time at KIPP Sharpstown. This intense focus allows the students to leave KIPP Sharpstown with a high level of artistic technique and skill.

KIPP Sharpstown Choir Students have participated in many prestigious and rigorous art programs such as AFA, UIL, and have performed at Disney World in Florida, Houston athletic games, House of Blues, Museum of Fine Arts, Children's Museum, and musical theatre in 6th grade.
Each grade has fine arts everyday where they learn technique, their fine art history, and skills.
