These busy students all live in the greater Houston area and many of them perform with their school orchestras, youth symphonies and other groups. They come together here to share their love of learning and making music both at home and on the road. HCC students audition for the ensemble in both the fall and the spring, and the ensemble provides a wonderful opportunity for the most gifted dance students to showcase their talents and experience being in a professionally run dance ensemble. Many Central Dance Ensemble members end up dancing with professional dance companies in Houston and frequently transfer to four-year university dance programs. In addition to their regular concert season the CDE has had the privilege of performing in the SPA Performance Prelude series, the Houston Fringe Festival, the Dance Gallery Festival, and numerous American College Dance Association conferences, as well as multiple times a year for a variety of Houston Community College events.
