Public Programs
Society for the Performing Arts offers a range of public programs often facilitated by the world-class artists SPA brings to Houston. Adults and children are welcomed to participate in the multitude of offerings we provide throughout the season.
H-E-B Performance Preludes
Local performing groups are invited to show off their talents at our Performance Preludes on the evenings of our season performances. This wonderful opportunity is provided to groups in the Houston community. If you are a member or leader of a performance group in town and would like to learn how to become involved in an upcoming Performance Prelude, please call 713-632-8112. Ticket-holders are treated to these wonderful pre-show performances.
Creative Conversations
Guests who have purchased tickets to a performance are often treated to a lecture by the experienced and talented traveling artists SPA brings to Houston. Local experts also often lend their expertise in a dynamic and insightful manner. These short presentations often take place just prior to or after the evening’s main event.
Dance Master Classes
The Tudor Family Dance Master Class Series conducted in partnership with the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center. Dance Master Classes, led by world-class artists, are for the intermediate to advance level dance students. The local performer is able to learn directly from SPA’s talented touring artists.
Music Master Classes
Classes led by SPA’s touring artists, these once-in-a-lifetime opportunities enable Houston-area students to learn directly from the unique talents and perspective of these visiting artists. SPA facilitates these master classes through partnerships with local schools and universities.
SPA for the Community
SPA steps into the Houston community to offer programming unique to our organization. From interactive drum circles to open rehearsals, Houstonians are invited to experience theater arts in community centers and locations outside of the Theater District.
